It’s the first job of government to keep us safe. I’ll make sure that our Deputy Sheriff’s and fire personnel have all the training and equipment they need to get the job done right. I’m strongly opposed to the current state law that gives dangerous felons a “get out of jail free” card and let’s them loose on our streets.
I strongly believe in offering people a helping hand when they need it most. That’s why I have a four point plan to help end the local homeless crisis: (1) any homeless veteran, woman, or child will have a safe place to sleep every night (2) increase drug treatment programs to get the addicts off the street (3) zero tolerance for crime on the streets and (4) centralize job opportunities for the homeless, and help them apply.
BRINGING GOOD PAYING
We need to make it easier for employers to hire more people, or for people to start their own small businesses. It’s not brain surgery to figure out how: end the endless government paperwork, keep taxes low, make sure there is affordable housing and good schools, and that the traffic isn’t gridlocked day and night.
Does anyone seriously want anything less than clean water, fresh air, and unspoiled nature? No. That’s why I strongly support moving the county towards green renewable energy. At the same time we need to protect our open spaces, parks, and other natural places both for wildlife and for recreation.
I’m tired of sitting in traffic all the time. We all waste hundreds of hours a year just sitting in our cars. It’s time to act boldly: more roads, more public transportation, and wider freeways. I oppose the new Gas and Car tax because it does almost nothing to fix the problem. We need to demand that the state and federal government use our transportation taxes for transportation rather than using it for other purposes.
I’m a fiscal conservative. I believe in a balanced budget that holds the county accountable for fulfilling services well, on time, and at a reasonable price. I have never and will never vote for higher taxes. It’s time we focused on the common sense things we need, and eliminate wasteful spending.
